Private Guided Group Play

Guided Play is for mahjong players who are ready to play mahjong with other experienced players but still would like support and the ability to ask questions about rules, gameplay, and strategy. Coaching is limited during this session. If you are inexperienced, please respect others and attend a beginner-level course instead. During this 2-hour event, you will:

• Review the National Mahjong League’s rules and gameplay etiquette 

• Ask questions and receive answers during gameplay

• Build confidence as you play American mahjong 

For Guided Play, Mahj Garage will bring everything needed to play the game of American mahjong (tiles, mats, racks, pushers, cards, lighting, and curriculum).

This event will take place at YOUR chosen venue. Mahj Garage will bring everything needed to play the game of American mahjong (tiles, mats, racks, pushers, cards, lighting, and curriculum). You, the host, will provide tables, chairs, and refreshments.

Please note:

The cost is $30 a person. We currently accommodate parties of 4-16 guests for private events. If you add to your guest list, please notify Mahj Garage, and we will send you an invoice for the additional player(s).

There are no refunds if you cancel within five days of your scheduled event.  You may, however, reschedule for a future class or party credit, subject to price increases and availability. Full refunds are permitted if the event is canceled outside the five-day window.

If you would like to host a class outside of the times offered by Mahj Garage, there is an additional cost of $20.

Regardless of where you host your event, in your home or other space, Mahj Garage will bring everything needed to play the game of American mahjong (tiles, mats, racks, pushers, cards, lighting, and curriculum).  Mahj Garage does NOT bring tables, chairs, or refreshments.

Mahj Garage will arrive 20 minutes before the start of your party. Please have all tables and chairs ready for game play by this time so that we can set the mats, tiles, etc.
