Ready to build on what you learned in Mahjong 101 & 102? Or do you want to "level up" your mahjong game? This class is for you. In this class, you will:

1. Dig into strategies to win and defend
2. How to pass like a pro during The Charleston
3. How to read the table
4. Reinforce what you've learned with guided play
5. Leave ready to join open plays with confidence

This event will take place at a private residence in north Bentonville. Once registration is complete, we will send you the address. Thank you!

Open Play is for mahjong players who are ready to forgo coaching and are ready to play with other experienced players. No coaching is offered during open play, so please respect others, and do not register for this class if you are brand new to mahjong.

We will provide tiles, mats, and racks. Players at this level are expected to bring their own NMJL 2025 Cards. (We will have some available to use, but we strongly encourage you to purchase your own through The National Mah Jongg League.)

Want to host your own event? Any Mahj Garage class can become your own private party. Have something else in mind? Please let us know, and we will work with you to create a specialized offering.

Mahj Garage will bring everything needed to play the game of American mahjong (tiles, mats, racks, pushers, cards, lighting, and curriculum). You, the host, will provide tables, chairs, and refreshments.

If you haven't already, please complete the private party registration form, located on the Private Party page.

Please note:

Cost is $45 a person. A deposit of 50% is due upon booking. If the cost exceeds $90 (four people), we will contact you to request the remainder of the full deposit once you confirm the number of guests. We currently accommodate parties of 4-16 guests for private events.

There are no deposit refunds if you cancel within seven days of your scheduled event. You may, however, use your deposit for a future class or party credit, subject to price increases and availability. Full refunds are permitted if the event is canceled outside the seven-day window.

If you would like to host a class on a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday, there is an additional cost of $10 per person.

All private classes require a 50% deposit of the estimated number of attendees to hold a specific date. Until that deposit is received and confirmation is sent from Penny, no date is confirmed. Final payment for all private classes is due 24 hours before the start of class. If we do not receive payment, your class will be canceled and no refunds will be given.

If you host your event in your home or other space, Mahj Garage will bring everything needed to play the game of American mahjong (tiles, mats, racks, pushers, cards, lighting, and curriculum). Mahj Garage does NOT bring tables, chairs, or refreshments.

Mahj Garage will arrive 15 minutes before the start of your party if hosted off-site. Please have all tables and chairs ready for game play by this time, so we can set the mats, tiles, etc.
